Denis Wick SM4U ‘Ultra’ Baritone Horn Mouthpiece – gold plate

The Denis Wick SM4U ‘Ultra’ Baritone Horn Mouthpiece is the largest in this series possessing a small shank, suitable for all baritones and small shank euphoniums. With a rim diameter/width and cup depth/backbore similar to the 4 (Ultra, SM, AL) euphonium mouthpieces, this mouthpiece will be the choice of players preferring a big full sound and whose lips are accustomed to this particular wider feel.

It has the same external contour and metal distribution of the highly aclaimed Ultra euphonium mouthpieces, ensuring a clear tone allied to an ease of response and beautiful sining tone. The ful range of the instrument can be played with a great full sound. It’s deep cup depth makes it the obvious choice for euphonium players using this size shank and for baritone players wanting that big tone.

Cup diameter: 26.0mm.
Rim width: 6.3mm.
Throat: 7.4mm.
Backbore: V-Type.

Also available in silver plate

The first Denis Wick mouthpieces were made in 1968, and range has grown so much, that it is now one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world. They are famous for their wonderful sound and brilliant designs, and are produced to the highest technical specifications.

Special attention is paid to the rims, which are both comfortable and consistent. Special techniques are used to produce beautiful and extremely hard-wearing silver and gold plating. Many mouthpieces are available in Heritage and Heavytop formats as well as in the Classic shape.

The British virtuoso euphonium player, Steven Mead, has co-operated in the subtle design modifications needed to make the finest range of baritone horn mouthpieces available in the world today. Although they are all based on the well worked principles of the Denis Wick trombone mouthpieces, they all offer small but significant refinements which make them the choice of the best baritone horn players.

The first range of mouthpieces designed by the international euphonium virtuoso, Steven Mead, manufactured for today’s instruments, with design features which result in a tone, comfort and all-round performance which will delight all those who try them.
