Silver Plated Flutes
Silver plated flutes are what most players start on. Other than plastic ones they are generally the cheapest option. And if you are on a tight budget then a second hand one could work, provided of course that it is in good working order & serviced recently. They are typically made from nickel-silver which, confusingly, is a copper/nickel alloy and does not contain silver. Young players may need to start on a curved head flute to make the reach easier.
The next step after this type is to have a precious metal lip plate or head joint. These are usually made from sterling silver (92.5%) which adds richness and depth to the tone.
