One of the best features of the L\u00e9g\u00e8re synthetic reed, is that it is not subject to weather or humidity changes and therefore does not require pre-moistening. The reed will warm up within the first few days of playing and will then be stable for an extended period of time. Although L\u00e9g\u00e8re reeds are made out of a synthetic material and can withstand longer periods than a typical cane reed, the tip edges are very fragile and require careful handling. Do not try to manipulate the aperture by squeezing the tube as this can result in breaking or splitting the reed. Be sure to clean the reed periodically with water and a mild detergent. Germicides such as sterisol may be used, however do not assume that such products will sterilize the reed completely.
