Martin Custom Trumpet in C
Here we have a Vintage Martin Custom Trumpet in beautiful condition. The serial number dates it to 1962. This trumpet has been fully and expertly restored at some point and so it looks virtually as new. The custom model combines features of the ‘Magna’ line of horns and the legendary Martin ‘Committee’ trumpet. Features a high copper content bell similar to the Magna’s, a first valve saddle, fixed third slide ring, and a .459″ bore. Two piece valve casings with nickel balusters, nickel slide tubes with nickel plated inners, along with cast nickel bell braces all add to the solid build similar to early Bach trumpets which in turn gives a solid feel and core to the tone with excellent response in all registers. This combination offers a warm lyrical tone in the middle and low registers but one which can really cut through on the top part if desired. Very responsive in the upper register. This is an opportunity to own a rather rare trumpet, as they were custom made with no large production runs. Boston Symphony trumpeter Armando Ghitalla played one of these C’s and preferred it over other trumpets offered at the time. This one was owned and played by Bill Kitchen of the LSO. This is being sold as instrument only with no mouthpiece or case included.
