Vintage Rudall Carte Webster Cornet
This Vintage Rudall Carte Webster Cornet has some damage to the lacquer and the bell but is in playing condition. It says Webster trumpet on the bell, but we are calling this a Webster Cornet because it has a cornet mouthpiece receiver. This instrument has the serial number 6967 and has been documented by Arnold Myers as such
{6967} (Trumpet in B♭, Patent Conical Bore, unplated brass; windway runs mouthpiece receiver – high pitch-low pitch shunt / mts – 2 – 1 – 3 – bell; with B♭ and A main tuning-slides; inscribed on bell “B2 / WEBSTER / TRUMPET” / lion-and-unicorn emblem / “BY APPOINTMENT / TO THE LATE / QUEEN VICTORIA / Rudall Carte & Co Ltd / Manufacturers / 23 / BERNERS STREET / OXFORD STREET / LONDON / 6967”; on side of valve casings “4”, “5”, “6”).
According to the firm’s archives [Rudall Carte stock books], the instrument was “Trumpet P.C.B. B♭ Plated”; entered in stock 11 Jul 1928; sold 30 Jan 1942 -> L. Chester, London.
