Description

CarolBrass Pocket Cornet

Measuring just 6.8″ the CarolBrass Pocket Cornet is probably the smallest playable Bb cornet in production. The mini pocket cornet has a specially designed small yellow brass bell and light weight construction. This is the ideal travel cornet for those times when space is at a premium. The CarolBrass Pocket Cornet features the same stainless steel valves as the rest of the CarolBrass line. Also available in C!

I recently bought a Carol Mini Pocket Trumpet from Trevor at Trevor Jones Brass and Woodwind in Bristol.
A really great purchase and after a month I couldnt really be any happier with it .
Plays freely and smoothly and , apart  from maybe the low F#, its very in tune throughout the range .
Its also very resposive and easy to hold.
The valves are great and the sound is bright but warm.
I use it for practice only but I could get through a gig on one if I had to.
Its size makes it very conveniet and the case is great.
I chose the model with the cornet mouthpiece reciever
which has old fashioned water keys which I prefer.
I agree with Trevor that It blows even better than the trumpet version.
Very happy !
Thanks Trevor.

Carol Brass never seem to put a foot wrong with any of their instruments. I recently bought the new Pocket Cornet and couldn’t be more pleased with the purchase. The instrument has the wonderful valves that Carol Brass are know for, and is a joy to play. One would expect something that is so wrapped up to be hard to play, but that’s far from the case. It’s a very easy blow with not too much resistance. The sound is good especially given the very small diameter bell.

The only struggle I find is how to hold it – your right hand is easy but getting a comfortable left hand position which allows you to use the third valve slide is (with my large hands!) a bit of a puzzle. I’ve tried a few variations and they’re all OK and in every case I can use the third valve slide (which is very nicely lubricated) but I haven’t settled on one permanently as yet.

The cornet comes with the usual Carol Brass accessories – a small but pretty robust “gig bag” as they call it (it has fairly solid sides and does a good job in protecting the instrument), valve oil and a mouthpiece.

Obviously this is mainly something to travel with, but you could easily play it in a gig if you needed to.

So all in all a very happy customer!!

Excellent little cornet perfect for holiday practice, young players or anyone looking for a small cornet for brass bands – orchestras and wind bands.
