Paul Lawrence Handmade Wooden Flugel Mute

Description

Paul Lawrence Handmade Wooden Flugel Mute

The Paul Lawrence Handmade Wooden Flugel Mute is also suitable for alto trombone.

Before shifting focus to crafting mutes, Paul Lawrence was a premier orchestral player, serving as a trombonist and later as the principal tuba player for the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO).
Unlike traditional metal or fibre mutes that can choke an instrument’s sound, Lawrence’s mutes are meticulously handmade from wood.
Many brass musicians favour his wooden designs because they preserve a deep, dark, and natural acoustic tone. They are often described as making the low brass sound genuinely muted rather than sounding like “a towel shoved down the bell.”
