With its easy playability, accurate intonation, and characteristic piccolo sound, the Yamaha YPC-32 Piccolo is very popular with students as well as doublers. The body is made of sturdy, maintenance-free ABS resin for a sound similar to that of natural wood.

Piccolos are a common doubling instrument for flautists. We are told they even fit nicely in a Christmas stocking! A basic piccolo will usually be made of a resin composite material with the professional models being made from wood such as Grenadilla. As with full size flutes the heads can be silver plated, solid silver or wooden. There are other models of piccolo made by Yamaha.
