Bass TrumpetsBass Trumpets are the largest & lowest pitched trumpets in common use today. There are some similarities to the valve trombone but as the bore is smaller the tone quality is very different. Listen out for a Bass Trumpet in Stravinsky's awesome Rite of Spring & in much of Wagner's wonderful music. Pitched an octave below the normal trumpet it is mostly played by trombonists, but there are some trumpet players like Michel Padron who double on the Bass Trumpet.
