Denis Wick 4AY Euphonium Mouthpiece Silver plated

The Denis Wick 4AY Euphonium Mouthpiece (DW5880E-4AY) is the classic euphonium mouthpiece. Open sound with clear attack and a focused low register.
This mouthpiece was originally designed by Denis Wick for the best-selling Yamaha 321 euphonium, and features the unusual combination of a small shank with a large bore and backbore. The first 4AYs were made with a slightly smaller shank than the normal S fitting to help the response and intonation of the 321, but the 4AY is now made with a standard S shank. It is a perfect match for the Yamaha 321.

  • Cup diameter: 26.00mm.
  • Rim width: 6.72mm.
  • Throat: 7.38mm.
  • Backbore: Large.
  • Small shank.

Denis Wick Euphonium Mouthpieces

The British virtuoso euphonium player, Steven Mead, has co-operated in the subtle design modifications needed to make the finest range of euphonium mouthpieces available in the world today. Although the Denis Wick euphonium mouthpieces are all based on the well worked principles of the Denis Wick trombone mouthpieces, all of the Denis Wick euphonium mouthpieces offer small but significant refinements to the throat and backbore to complement the euphonium’s conical bore which make them the choice of the best euphonium players.

The first Denis Wick mouthpieces were made in 1968, and range has grown so much, that it is now one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world. They are famous for their wonderful sound and brilliant designs, and are produced to the highest technical specifications.

Special attention is paid to the rims, which are both comfortable and consistent. Special techniques are used to produce beautiful and extremely hard-wearing silver and gold plating.

The Denis Wick factory in Hamworthy, Dorset employs skilled technicians and craftsmen to create these carefully designed accessories. Through a global system of distributors and dealers these items are sold to musicians across the globe. They can be found in orchestras, jazz groups, high school bands, British-style brass bands and military bands in every corner of the world. Their reach is truly universal. The sound of British brass-playing is much admired and much emulated throughout the world. Denis Wick mutes and mouthpieces have helped create this distinctive timbre, and have come to represent an important part of our musical heritage.
