Most Flugel Horns or Flugelhorns are in Bb, the same pitch as most trumpets and cornets. However, the tone of Flugel Horns is darker because of the much wider flare of the bell. Found in brass bands and also played by jazz trumpeters when a warmer sound is required, such as when playing ballads.
