Silver Plate Flutes
Silver plated flutes are what most players start on. They are typically made from nickel silver which, confusingly, is a copper/nickel alloy and does not contain silver. Young players may need to start on a curved head flute to make the reach easier.
The next step after a silver plated flute is to have a silver lip plate or head joint. These are usually made from sterling silver (92.5%) which adds richness and depth to the tone.
