Tenor Horns

Tenor Horns (also known as Alto Horns in some countries) are brass instruments in the saxhorn family, and are pitched in E♭. The bore is mostly conical, like the flugelhorn and baritone horn, and they are normally played using a deep, funnel shaped mouthpiece. An instrument usually found only within brass bands – often referred to as the heart of the band – the tenor horn is also a great starter instrument from which players can move to larger or smaller brass instruments with relative ease. Of course they are also played at the very highest level, these days often by some fantastic soloists.
