Natural Trumpets

Natural/Baroque Trumpets (feel free to debate the naming of these) listed here are second hand and of various types and in various keys – please refer to individual listings for details.

These are trumpets very much as they would have been before the invention on the valve. Some have vent holes to aid intonation while others rely solely on the player’s skill to push the less in tune harmonics to where they need to sound.

They are used by baroque composers such as Bach, Handel, Telemann, Purcell and many others. Listen out for them in Bach’s B minor mass for example.
