Slide Trumpets
Slide Trumpets or Soprano Trombones are pitched in Bb, the same as a trumpet but shaped like a mini trombone. Like the trombone there are seven slide positions to allow the full chromatic range to be played. Although usually regarded as a novelty there are some modern composers who have used them to good effect. Due to the smaller size young children may find the soprano trombone a good starter instrument before potentially moving on to alto or tenor trombones once they are big enough.
Historically the slide trumpet was very much like a natural trumpet and although not fully chromatic offered a greater range of notes than other trumpets of the time. This instrument was used by composers such as Henry Purcell due to the extra range of notes available.
We usually keep CarolBrass and Levante in stock.
